Zoom In! Animal Insticts

In honor of Halloween I decided to become a spider.

I traveled from the drainpipe to the doorway...

and managed to find my way inside.

I took refuge in the coat closet...

but got too brave.

and finally met my match.

(In reality my husband does not condone actually smashing spiders.
We are a catch and release family, but that picture wasn't as interesting.)

  1. I loved the close-up pictures of the spider climbing on the ledge. Whenever I try to take close-up pictures like that the camera won't let me. My favorite photo was the last one. I'm sure that's exactly what the spider sees when someone goes to get him! Nice job!

  2. Great pictures! This would be a terrific activity for students to do right before they read Charlotte's Web! :) We actually had a banana spider living outside our kitchen window and my daughters and I watched it repair its web and catch bugs. We were actually sad when we looked out one day and saw it had died.

  3. Thanks!
My first instinct was to be my cat, but that didn't seem like much of a challenge. My son helped me come up with the spider idea, which seemed perfect given the timing. My husband helped with the tissue idea.
This class has worked its way into dinner conversation on a regular basis. My family has really enjoyed brainstorming with me about concepts and how to execute them.

  4. Seeing your "spider" point of view, for some reason, reminded me of a scene from the movie Ruthless People. You can see it here

Also, I love the fact that 818 has worked its way into your dinner conversations! How cool is that.
